Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. (NGSG), a premier provider of natural gas compression equipment renowned for its innovative products, cutting-edge design, and superior service, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Inventory Control Manager to join our team.
Position Summary:
The Inventory Control Manager will oversee the management of the company's operational and field-related inventory levels to ensure that all warehouses, field locations, and inventory locations are properly stocked in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The Inventory Control Manager will ensure the accuracy of all inventory transactions, supervise quarterly physical inventory counts and reconciliations, and ensure strict compliance with all internal control policies and procedures, including those related to industry-specific regulations and audit requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Collaborates closely with executive management, district managers, and field supervisors to maintain optimal inventory levels at sites.
- Provides data-driven recommendations for inventory control decisions to support uninterrupted field and maintenance operations.
- Oversees the job assignments, performance, and development of inventory control staff across multiple facilities.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and coaching of the inventory control team, with a focus on industry best practices.
- Demonstrate a culture of excellence, including awareness and compliance with all internal control processes and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts daily inventory analysis to identify discrepancies, forecast demand, and resolve issues to ensure seamless field operations.
- Ensures accurate tracking of all parts, and equipment inventories, leveraging a deep understanding of inventory control methods, systems, and relevant technology.
- Supervises cycle counts and audits to verify that all locations are adhering to proper inventory management procedures. Investigates and resolves inventory variances, with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime in field operations.
- Oversees and coordinates the timely supply of materials, equipment, and parts to support field service technicians and fabrication teams, including overseeing inter-site transfers between field locations and warehouses.
- Communicates regularly with site managers, field personnel, and operations teams to ensure inventory levels meet operational requirements.
- Trains personnel on the design and intent of internal control procedures and identifies potential process improvement opportunities.
- Works closely with the Purchasing team to manage inventory reorder points, minimum/maximum stock levels, and ensure timely procurement of critical components and replacement parts.
- Approves and monitors Min/Max ranges for all parts at each warehouse and field location, factoring in industry-specific lead times and equipment wear.
- Ensures that department goals and milestones are achieved within the approved budget, with a focus on reducing costs and improving operational efficiency.
- Coordinates with the Purchasing Department to update and maintain accurate item records, locations, and quantities in the system.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned to support operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with field technicians, warehouse staff, and operations managers.
- Excellent written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, particularly in tracking parts and equipment critical to gas compression operations.
- Thorough understanding of inventory management principles, including knowledge of industry-specific tools, equipment, and components used in natural gas compression.
- Ability to manage inventory across geographically dispersed sites, including remote compression facilities and field locations.
- Capable of working independently while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory software, and industry-specific tools and equipment management systems.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of five years of supervisory and inventory/supply chain management experience, preferably within the oil & gas, natural gas compression, or industrial equipment sectors.
- Proven experience managing multiple sites and teams across geographically dispersed locations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office365 and experience with inventory control and accounting systems commonly used in industrial operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Travel to field locations and warehouse sites may be required occasionally.
